HECWeb1 Last week, the groups HEC Entrepreneurship and HEC WEB organized a conference with the theme Opportunity, Creation & Development on the Internet: Lessons Learned From Entrepreneurs.

Greetings!

15 days ago at The Canteen, at an evening dedicated to the topic of geolocation, I made the acquaintance of Ly�s Ghamissou.

The roundtable on geolocation was not great, the speakers (Cityvox, Dismoio, Plyce, Restopolitain and Nomao) being reduced to self promotion in the absence of any high level view on the subject. It was a pity.

However, as usual, a raft of interesting people were present. Most notably, I briefly saw our friend @ cath_woman and finally met again the newly turned�American @ mgef amongst many others.

And some added bonuses, like our friend Ly�s. The latter is active in one of the (many) HEC alumni networks, dedicated to entrepreneurs: HEC Entrepreneurship.

Everyone knows HEC, but not everyone is aware of the network of associations around the ultra-dynamic school

Quick Focus on HEC Women, HEC Web and HEC Entrepreneurship

Before getting to the main subject of this article (that evening?s conference), a quick focus on three of the HEC associations:

You?re probably already familiar with HEC Women, led by vivacious founder and managing partner Sophie Reynal, aka @ Reynal. Find her on her site, blog, and Twitter (@ hecaufeminin).

HEC Women are entrepreneurs already regularly in the spotlight (see this post for a list of women who created ?businesses and, at the same time, employment and value for their shareholders.?

Among the HEC graduates, some have gone through the module or masters course HEC Entrepreneurs, others have benefited from the HEC Incubator ?

HEC Women is about career workshops, it?s international, it?s about networking, meetings with remarkable women (such as Sophie), the prize ?Trajectories HEC Women?, a newsletter ?

There is also HEC Web, which brings together passionate graduates and web professionals. More on this next time.

Finally there is the Enterprise Centre, part of HEC Entrepreneurship, which summarizes the entire HEC ecosystem for entrepreneurs.

HEC Entrepreneurship brings together some 400 entrepreneurs and professionals, aiming to support entrepreneurs and to ?encourage and provide practical solutions to achieve their project or develop their business.?

Conference with Lessons Learned From Web Entrepreneurs

In this context, (ah we reach the famous conference!), a conference was organized on ?Opportunity, creation and development on the Internet: Lessons Learned from Entrepreneurs.?

Four contractors were showcased and in attendance, including:

Nicolas Cohen (Ms Entrepreneur H01), co-founder of www.alittlemarket.com, the first French marketplace dedicated to handmade products. A Little Market allows independent designers to sell their creations directly. Similar to Etsy.com in the United States, which has been one of the great successes of the past five years, one of the characteristics of these sites is that they grow through word of mouth ensured by their community (no traffic charge).

Philippe Duhamel (MBA 96), co-founder of www.kadeal.com. A mashup of search engine Google, Salesforce, and Kompass, Kadeal is a new prospecting tool which identifies business and commercial contacts through semantic analysis of the B2B Web. In SaaS mode, to the delight of sales folks.

NFL running back Laurence Maroney was charged today for a drug and weapons bust in St. Louis a few months ago -- and he's only going to face a misdemeanor.

Prosecutors tagged Maroney with one count of marijuana possession -- for the arrest back in January when St. Louis PD pulled over a car and busted the former Denver Broncos player and four other people.

Cops originally booked Maroney -- who's now a free agent -- for possession of a firearm, but it was later determined he had a permit to carry the gun.

Maroney faces up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

The man accused of attacking NBA legend Dominique Wilkins says he's the real victim and he's planning to sue over the alleged beat down.

TMZ spoke with Rashan Michel -- a former NBA referee -- and he claims he was calmly trying to work out a deal over the money he says 'Nique owes him for custom suits.

Michel claims Wilkins responded by yelling, "F**k You!" ... then security wrestled him to the ground ... and that's when the Hall of Famer slugged him. Michel is adamant that he did NOT hit Wilkins first.

Michel tells us he plans on suing Wilkins and the Hawks organization -- as well as subpoenaing the surveillance footage ... which he claims proves his side of the story.

Lindsay Lohan didn't waste any time hitting up bars with pal Samantha Swetra though she's supposedly on a sobriety kick as of late.

Lindsay Lohan is back in the city. A source tells us the troubled doll landed in NYC Tuesday and checked into a Times Square hotel instead of going to her family's Long Island home. Later that night, she was seen bar-hopping with good pal Samantha Swetra, who, as we reported, got into it last week with actress Paz de la Huerta. Lohan and Swetra stopped at Rose Bar in the Gramercy Park Hotel before continuing to The Cabin Down Below in the East Village, an ultra-exclusive bar disguised as a dive. (Mom Dina says LiLo is working on sobriety here, so the bars must be just a test)

Judgment(al) day

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Ronald Zweibel has revised his recent decision about former Bloomberg campaign adviser John Haggerty. In a March 14 ruling requiring Haggerty to stand trial on charges he stole $1.1 million from Hizzoner's 2009 campaign,

Zweibel raised eyebrows when he bluntly wrote that "the evidence of guilt, whether admissible in trial or not, is overwhelming." The line was shortened in a number of press reports to "the evidence of guilt ... is overwhelming," which read like a pretty decisive stance in advance of a trial.

Perhaps Zweibel regretted his initial exuberance, because, while reporting our story on Haggerty in Wednesday's column, we learned that the judge has since issued an amended decision, which softens his original assertion. The line, which we've truncated to spare you a lot of legalese, now reads: "the evidence of guilt ... is certainly legally sufficient, if not overwhelming, based upon this Court's review of the Grand Jury presentation."

A rose by any other name ...

Jayson Blair: Disgraced reporter or MTV heartthrob? Both, it turns out! An actor on "The Hard Times of RJ Berger" shares his creatively spelled name with the journalist whose plagiarized and fabricated articles caused a scandal for the Gray Lady in 2003. After resigning, that Jayson Blair recast himself as a "life coach"; this one plays a character he describes as "the a?hole jock everyone loves to hate."

The handsome actor, who's now shooting an unnamed pilot with "Traffic" director Stephen Gaghan, admits he's got a bit of a Google problem, but tells us, "I never really considered using a different name."

Janet's star may be waning

Do Janet Jackson's fans like her better when she's "Nasty"? A source tells us the singer's March 19 book-signing for her self-help volume, "True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself," at the Fifth Ave. Barnes & Noble wasn't exactly mobbed. According to the insider, after Simon & Schuster's Gallery imprint shelled out $30,000 for a stylist to primp Jackson for the signing, she autographed only 200 copies. We initially heard that even fewer sold, but a spokeswoman for the book insisted our story was "false." She wrote that 475 copies of "True You" were sold and Jackson presigned another 200 for the store, making the event "a huge success."

Sweet spots stay secret

Maira Kalman learned the hard way that state secrets are serious ? even when sweet. At a party honoring the artist and writer (whose work is displayed at the Jewish Museum), Kalman told guests that for her book "And the Pursuit of Happiness," she visited the White House kitchen and asked for their lemon layer cake recipe. The chef seemed agreeable, but when Kalman followed up from home, she was rebuffed by an underling. "They couldn't divulge it!" Kalman said. The event was dedicated to Learning Leaders, a public-school program in which Kalman and co-host Bob Morris volunteer. The event led Kalman to bond with "Fear of Flying" novelist Erica Jong about attending what's now known as LaGuardia Arts high school (once the "Fame" school). "I was a painter in those days," Jong explained.

The 'Sex and the City' actress plays a jaded former '80s porn star in the new movie and Dustin Ingram - who portrays the awkward teen who befriends his ageing idol - revealed his favourite moments on set were when they swapped erotic stories and Kim gave him some advice.

He told the New York Daily News newspaper: "We would talk about sex and swap stories and pointers and all this stuff."

The movie's director Keith Bearden revealed his best memory was when the two actors "made out" in the movie's "climactic kiss" scene and "we had to change reels of film and Dustin gets up and he has the hugest erection".

Although Dustin protested it wasn't true, the director quipped: "I'm an old man; I know [ardour] when I see it!"

However, Kim - who is best known for her raunchy role as maneater Samantha Jones in the 'Sex and the City' TV series and movies - was not impressed with either man's story and complained when she was questioned about them.

She said Dustin's story about swapping sex tips was "absolutely not true" and when asked about his alleged excitement during their love scene, she fumed to the New York Post newspaper: "You know, as a woman, I really find those questions offensive. As a woman, I find that really embarrassing [for you] to ask that."

Kim, 54, also took the time to rage against Hollywood's bias towards younger women, saying "Ask me about being a woman. Do you know what it's like to be 54 and marginalized? It doesn't get easier as you get older."

Lindsay Lohan has been busy spending time with her family in Long Island.

LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Lohan thinks her future is in the Big Apple - not the big house.

The "Mean Girls" actress is looking for a rental in Manhattan while her felony necklace theft case plays out in Los Angeles, her mom told the Daily News.

"She will be in New York a lot more going forward. She's actively looking for places in the city with her younger brother Michael," mom Dina Lohan said.

"She loves it here. And she has a lot of friends who already have places, so she might sublet."

The oft-rehabbed starlet is home with her family on Long Island this week, but must return to Los Angeles April 22 for a preliminary hearing in the bling bust.

A LOOK AT LINDSAY LOHAN'S CHANGING FACE

Cops say she stole a $2,500 diamond chain from a Venice, Calif., jewelry store in January. She insists the store loaned her the strand.

Lohan, 24, got good news Tuesday when prosecutors in another county dropped a battery case against her, citing "insufficient evidence."

The investigation stemmed from her alleged scuffle with a Betty Ford staffer in December.

"We always knew Lindsay was innocent. This shows the truth does prevail. We're really happy we can put this one behind us," Dina Lohan said.

She said LiLo hopes she can soon "move on" from the necklace case, too.

"We're taking everything one step at a time. But obviously we're all behind Lindsay on this. I watched all four hours of the [jewelry store] surveillance tape. They clearly loaned her that necklace."

She wouldn't comment on what legal strategy they'll employ if Lindsay is tossed in jail next month on a probation violation.

The judge could lock her up immediately following the preliminary hearing - even before a jury trial - if she decides the actress more than likely violated probation in her back-to-back 2007 DUIs.

"We'll have to wait and see. Right now we're maintaining her innocence," Dina Lohan said.

In the meantime, she said, Lindsay is working on her sobriety. She "loves" her new talent agency, International Creative Management, and is considering several movie scripts while she helps cast "Growing Defiant," the Dina-produced movie about heroin-addicted kids starring son Michael, 23.

She said her daughter will continue renting her Venice Beach pad even after she signs a lease in New York.

"We're all in the entertainment business. We're all bi-coastal," she said.

Stepping out for one of the biggest night?s surrounding their film's release, the ladies of ?Sucker Punch? were all on-hand at the UK film premiere in London, England on Wednesday (March 30).

Rapper Jim Jones was arrested on Wednesday after cops saw his license had been suspended.

A Harlem rapper was busted in SoHo Wednesday for driving his 2011 Bentley on a suspended license, cops said.

Cops pulled over hip-hop artist Jim Jones, 34, for driving in a bus lane on Broadway near Prince St. about noon, police said.

The lyricist, whose real name is Joseph Guillermo Jones II, was arrested after cops saw his license had been suspended for failure to pay several tickets, police sources said.

"I don't care how many records you sell, you gotta pay your tickets," a cop told Jones, according to one of the sources.

After a few hours in the 1st Precinct stationhouse, cops issued the "We Fly High" rapper a desk appearance ticket and released him, police said.

"I'm just an entertainer trying to make a living," the rapper told the Daily News as he walked out.

Jones said New York's Finest were polite.

"They showed me total respect," he said. "Every officer in there is a gentleman."

Jones made recent headlines after a pair of Houston women claimed the rapper used without consent topless video of them on the beach. The footage appeared in the new "Summer Time" video.

Samantha Stotts and Sharie Johnson are in a clip of the video, half nude on a beach beach with Jones sipping Champagne and counting $100 bills.

The star's fifth album, entitled Capo, will be released on Tuesday.

Kevin Federline's girlfriend Victoria Prince is knocked up. Shar Jackson, his original baby mama, wishes him nothing but the best despite the circumstances.

Then again, she's used to it. Dude left her and their two kids for Britney Spears, who he impregnated twice in about a year. It's who he is. Fertile, itinerant.

"Honestly, I wish them the best, without question," Jackson says of K-Fed and Prince. "It's just not part of my life. I've got my own family to worry about."

Kevin Victoria is pregnant and Shar is happy for him her.

The mother of four – two of them Kev's – says she's somewhat bemused when people ask her about Federline news. Her response, she says, is usually the same.

"People ask me what I think, or if I have a comment," she says, laughing. "And I'm like, 'Yeah, I have a comment. I need to go home and cook for my own kids!'"

Italian stud Pauly D and his laptop could be hitting the road when he's not shooting the next season of the 'Jersey Shore' in Italy.

On "Good Morning America" Tuesday, Britney Spears told Robin Roberts she was "going on tour with Enrique Iglesias in June." Only hours after she made the announcement and a press release was circulated, the Latin heartthrob seemed to have had, well, a change of heart, and pulled out of the tour due to what we're told were "scheduling conflicts."

The good news for pop consumers who were hoping to get a swarthy side of man candy with their bubblegum-and-Jagermeister Britney fix: We hear DJ Paul (Pauly D) DelVecchio may join Spears on her "Femme Fatale" tour. It's unlikely the reality star, who had Spears as his "special guest" at The Palms Las Vegas last Friday (where he is a resident deejay), will be along for the entirety of the tour. He'll begin taping a fourth season of "Jersey Shore" in Italy next month. Still, the pairing comes as no surprise to us. The Italian stud and the Southern songstress are represented by the same manager, Larry Rudolph.�

Mellencamp's no Cougar

John Mellencamp is with the over-40 ladies on this one: Nobody likes getting called a cougar. In a Q&A Monday night at 92nd Street Y, Rolling Stone's David Fricke asked the "Hurts So Good" rocker the worst thing a record company ever asked him to do. "Making me change my name to Johnny Cougar," he replied. Mellencamp also relates to the angst of aging. Admitting that he was once considered rather handsome, he said that he now felt like a "stack of sh?." Ah, vanity! Perhaps he should look into those new man-Spanx?

The chat wasn't limited to gripes. Mellencamp revealed he'll have a one-man show of his paintings at the Tennessee State Museum ? and did a spot-on impression of Miles Davis while discussing their two-man show years ago.

Gal pal Meg Ryan came along for the evening, but after briefly hanging out backstage, she sat in the audience like an ordinary fan.

Yankees fans who'll miss Joe Torre on Opening Day Thursday can catch the team's former manager at Ellis Island on April 13 when he is awarded the 2011 Ellis Island Family Heritage Award. The honor celebrates April 17, 1907, the day when the largest number of new arrivals to America ? 11,747 ? were processed (5,000 was more typical). Tennis ace Martina Navratilova, former Maine Sen. George Mitchell and Chrysler savior Lee Iacocca also will be honored.

At the Cinema Society's Nancy Gonzalez-sponsored screening of "Meek's Cutoff" at Landmark Sunshine Cinema on Monday, Paul Dano confirmed he's had "a meeting" regarding the lead role in a spinoff of "The Bourne Legacy." But, he added, a "ton of great young actors did as well. So ? we'll see." Rivals reportedly include Jake Gyllenhaal and Shia LaBeouf. But Dano, a "Cutoff" star along with girlfriend Zoe Kazan, likes it because he wants "to kick some ass at some point."

Radion Veteran Bill O'Shaughnessy says there's no shame in New York. USA Today critic Bob Minze�sheimer once declined to review an anthology of O'Shaughnessy's work, calling it "a New York book" ? but the Whitney Media honcho wears that title as a "badge of honor." In fact, he says that although his new book, "Vox Populi," "still probably wouldn't pass muster" with Minzesheimer, he's delighted with the response it's gotten from Gothamites, including Mario Cuomo. After all, if there's one place New Yorkers are nice, it's in their blurbs!

Justin Timberlake is set to receive an award for his work with charitable causes at Saturday?s Nickelodeon Kids? Choice Awards.

Singer and actor Justin Timberlake, who is known for his environmental advocacy and his charity work, will be presented with the Big Help Award at this weekend?s award ceremony.

In a statement, Timberlake said, ?I was inspired at a young age by my parents and family to do everything possible to give back to the world around us.

?And it has become a mission of mine to help kids of all ages understand the importance of getting involved in their communities and local charities and doing their part to preserve the planet.?

Justin hosts an annual celebrity golf tournament to raise money for disadvantaged children and even climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness of the global water crisis back in 2009.

Willow Smith and the Black Eyed Peas are set to perform at the Nickelodeon 2011 Kids? Choice Awards.

But if you reach that point where it starts to come out, sometimes that emotion just pushes it all out. Such was the case for Bethenny Frankel on 'Bethenny Ever After.'<p>In her therapy session, she opened up about the craziness of her early life, talking about how her mother would yell at her for not wanting to go to a nightclub with her when Frankel was 13 years old. She struggled with her relationships with both her father and her stepfather.</p><p>"It sounds like I'm making it up when I say it out loud because it's so f**king crazy," she said. "But it didn't feel that crazy then. It really didn't."</p></div><p>"It's what you knew," her therapist said.</p><p>But Frankel doesn't dwell on the negative moments in her life. "I did not feel traumatized as a child," she said. "I had some happy times. We did a lot of nice things.
