Gloria Allred's Casino Case -- The Angry Waitresses

Sponsorship

The waitresses who claim an Atlantic City casino fired them for being too old went public today -- blasting the place during a news conference ... in which Gloria Allred literally served up her lawsuit on a silver platter.

0531_gloria_allred_launch_ex
Gloria put the legal docs on the silver plate, mocking one of the casino's sexy new "Let us serve you!" advertisements -- declaring, "We will be serving YOU today. Not with a cocktail, but with a lawsuit."

As we previously reported, Gloria represents 9 female cocktail servers -- aged between 40 and 66 -- who claim Resorts Casino in Atlantic City fired them to make room for sexier, younger waitresses.

The women are suing for unlawful sex, age, and race discrimination -- demanding back pay, lost wages, and damages for pain and suffering.

Sean Kingston's rescuers have revealed the singer was ''coughing up blood'' and in ''danger of drowning'' after his jet-ski accident on Sunday (29.05.11).

Sean Kingston was "coughing up blood" and in "danger of drowning" after his jet-ski accident on Sunday (29.05.11).

The singer's rescuers Jonathan Rivera and Jimmy Vega were in a boat approaching Palm Island Bridge in Miami , Florida, where they witnessed the aftermath of the incident and revealed the 'Beautiful Girls' hitmaker was in a bad way when they reached him.

Jimmy told RadarOnline that Sean had a neck wound and was "extremely dazed and in danger of drowning" while Jonathan added to TMZ that the singer was "puking up blood and convulsing".

coughing up blood and in danger of drowning

Although Sean was originally classed as critical when he was admitted to the Jackson Memorial Hospital after crashing into the bridge, he has now been moved from a trauma ward to an intensive care unit (ICU) where he is said to be stable.

A woman who was with Sean - real name Kisean Anderson - is now alert and talking to investigators.

Officers are said to have ruled out alcohol playing any part in the accident.

A statement from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission - which regulates boats in Florida waters - read: "Anderson was operating a PWC (personal watercraft) with a female passenger westbound along McArthur Cswy (Causeway) towards the Palm Ave bridge. Anderson struck the bridge and was transported to Ryder Trauma Unit in critical condition."

'Jersey Shore' star Snooki crashes into police car in Italy

MTV cameras was pictured captured Snooki's car crash in Florence, Italy on Monday.

Even over 4,000 miles away, Snooki still manages to get in trouble with the law.

The "Jersey Shore" cast member, whose real name is Nicole Polizzi, was taken into custody in Florence today after crashing into a police car, TMZ.com reports.

The pint-sized reality star, who is in Italy filming the fourth season of the hit MTV reality show with her housemates, was reportedly behind the wheel when she struck the back of the other vehicle. No one was injured and "zero alcohol was involved," a source told the gossip site.

The crash reportedly wedged Snooki's vehicle between the other car and a highway protection wall. Co-star Deena was a passenger at the time of the accident and had to exit the car by climbing out a window because her door was blocked by a wall.

Though Snooki is in custody, TMZ reports that she has not been formally arrested.

This isn't the 23-year-old's first brush with the law, however.

Last September, the self-proclaimed "guidette" was fined $500 and sentenced to community service for pleading guilty to her July 30 arrest for being drunk in public. She was not only charged with disorderly conduct and creating a public nuisance, but also annoying people on a New Jersey beach.

Kevin Bacon energized by 'X-Men: First Class'

By Brian Truitt, USA TODAY

Kevin Bacon famously put on dancing shoes, and he wouldn't be opposed to putting on zombie makeup.

By Murray Close, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp.

Diabolical plans revealed: Kevin Bacon's Sebastian Shaw tells fellow mutant Emma Frost (January Jones) about his plot to launch a nuclear war in X-Men: First Class, out Friday.

"I'm obsessed with zombies," the former Footloose star says. "I like watching zombie movies and I read zombie books."

That kind of role may be a bit left of field for fans of Bacon's conventional dramas such as Mystic River, Apollo 13 and The Woodsman, but so might his newest: superpowered villain Sebastian Shaw in the 1960s-set X-Men: First Class, which hits theaters Friday. He's the thorn in the side of fellow mutants Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) and their team of do-gooders, as well as the human world at large.

When you start the Cuban Missile Crisis, that officially makes you one really bad dude.

"Exactly!" Bacon says. "I like him because he's evil, but he's smooth and suave and sort of charming."

In the Marvel comic books as well as the movie, Shaw absorbs energy and can harness it and throw it back at whoever is attacking him. It's a metaphor for the kind of extremely adaptable guy Shaw is, Bacon says. "Whoever he happens to be talking to, he's going to pick up on their energy and use it against them. He's a different guy if he's talking to a Russian general or a little kid or a beautiful woman."

The impressive muttonchops carry over from comic to screen ? "I borrowed them," Bacon says of his stunt sideburns ? but otherwise his take is much different in look from the Shaw who first appeared in X-Men comics in 1980, "which I'm very happy about," Bacon says, laughing. "He kind of looks like Benjamin Franklin on steroids. I'd have to spend a lot of time in the gym. I don't think any amount of time in the gym could get me looking like that guy."

When Bacon was growing up, he was cognizant of X-Men and other comics but was not a fan.

"That's not what I spent my money on as a little kid," Bacon, 52, says. "My father would turn his pants upside down and the change would fall out of his pockets, and when he wasn't looking, you'd run up to his room and grab as much change as you could. I would spend that on records but not on comic books."

Bacon splits time between New York and Los Angeles? with wife, The Closer star Kyra Sedgwick, as well as son Travis, 21, and daughter Sosie, 19. Though his kids don't see his movies with regularity, Bacon says, they might see X-Men: First Class because of its young cast, a new crop of actors and actresses who are now simply one degree of separation from him.

"Certainly with my daughter, that's what she would be drawn to," says Bacon, who shares much of his screen time with January Jones' Emma Frost in the movie. "We're a team for a while ? until I trade her in for another model."

Bacon next appears in Crazy, Stupid, Love (out July 29) in a small role opposite Steve Carell and Julianne Moore. Part of him, though, would kill to play a private detective in a movie.

"There's something that's always been, I don't know, cool and interesting and tempting about that world," he says. "I just recently rented The Long Goodbye with Elliott Gould, and there are super-cool ways to go and they're often fun characters."

He's reminded that those kinds of movies aren't quite as popular now as, say, superhero flicks or ? lucky for him ? a zombie film.

"Yeah, so I should probably pick something I might have a chance of playing," Bacon says, laughing. "What would that be, a vampire?"

Duran Duran Cancels Upcoming Shows Over Lead Singer?s Throat Problems

simonlebon2 Duran Duran Cancels Upcoming Shows Over Lead Singers Throat Problems

British band Duran Duran have canceled their remaining U.K. tour dates so their lead singer Simon Le Bon can undergo treatment for his throat infection.

Duran Duran had to cancel two of their concerts after Simon Le Bon needed to rest his throat.

Doctors told Simon to rest his voice for ?about another week?, before the band heads to Germany.

Le Bon wrote, ?I know how difficult this has been for all of the fans, as we?ve been postponing shows with very little notice, in the hope each day that the improvement would have been significant enough for me to sing again without risking any long-term damage.

?I am now focussing on getting back for Berlin ? which is on June 8th.?

Five Things to Know About Green Lantern Before You See It

There's a reason the latest trailer for Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds carefully spells out the premise for you, possibly spoiling key plot points along the way. He's just a tougher character to pitch to the general public than some of his DC Comics brethren. Tell people they'll believe a man can fly, and they figure out Superman quickly. Show them a billionaire dressed like a bat and little more need be said. But a guy who gets drafted into a space army to wield a super-powered green ring in order to protect the universe from evil? That's a little tougher. So here are five things to prime you for the emerald extravaganza that's just on the horizon...

MORE: Get all your Green Lantern news here!

1. The Character Is Older Than Your Grandpa: Introduced in 1940, Green Lantern is only a year younger than Batman, but he's gone through bigger changes. Originally the character was a railroad engineer named Alan Scott, whose ring was powered by a magic lamp inspired by the legend of Aladdin. In 1956, with sci-fi stories gaining in popularity, the character was revived as Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds in the movie), a test pilot who gets his ring from a dying alien named Abin Sur.

2. The Green Lantern Corps Support Diversity in the Workplace: For the guardians of the universe, inducting a human into their ranks counts as affirmative action. In order to wield a ring, one must be without fear, and up until now, a human had never fit the bill. Other members of the group include a sentient planet, a smallpox virus, a cloud of gas, a living mathematical equation and a blind alien with no concept of either green or lanterns who must derive his powers from bell-tones instead. It's a tough crowd, but finally, we're getting our moment to shine.

3. It's Not a Joke: Though Reynolds is primarily known for comedy?even his prior superhero roles in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Blade: Trinity relied on wisecracks?this isn't a spoof. An early trailer riffed on Reynolds' established persona and goofy catchphrases like, "I know, right!" but that was only because most of the effects weren't ready to show. Producers did consider a comedy version of the character some years back, with Jack Black as a proposed lead, but outraged fans persuaded them this was not a good idea. Plus, Reynolds has dramatic chops: In last year's little-seen Buried, he's the only actor onscreen, and he keeps the viewer's attention the entire time.

4. No Rubber Nipples Here: While the trend among movie superheroes has been toward latex muscle suits, Reynolds never even saw his costume on set, instead wearing a gray motion-capture outfit so a digital Green Lantern costume could be added later. Somewhere, Michael Keaton is seething that this idea wasn't invented years ago.

5. It Could All Go Bad: It looks like in this movie, scientist Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) takes a turn toward the dark side after touching some bad space debris. He may only be the first: In comics continuity, all the major characters have turned evil at least once. Hal Jordan's love interest Carol Ferris (Blake Lively) can easily become the midriff-baring villainess Star Sapphire. In fact, Jordan himself once became genocidal and deranged with rage and destroyed his fellow corpsmen. And as for his alien mentor...well, the dude's name is Sinestro. That kinda gives it away.

Local exhibits, festivals and screenings embrace the arts of Cuba

There is a photo of a man slumbering on a chair in a Havana park that is part of the new Getty Museum exhibition, "A Revolutionary Project: Cuba from Walker Evans to Now."

Taken by Evans in 1933, it shows a worker, eyes closed, head propped up by his arm in uneasy rest. He could have dozed off waiting for someone or was waiting out the summer sun - or just waiting.

When it comes to Cuba, the picture could have been taken yesterday.

Waiting is what many do in the island nation, a communist state that was ruled by Fidel Castro for nearly 50 years and is now run by his brother, Raul. It is safe to say that many people, both in America and Cuba, are waiting for the Castros to die. In a half-century, very little has changed in relations between the two countries - heavy-duty travel restrictions remain despite a slight easement recently. However, there has been a sudden surge in things culturally Cuban happening around Los Angeles.

In the next three months, besides the Getty show, there will be other art exhibitions, a visit from the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, a number of screenings of Cuban and Cuban-related films, a night of Cuban music at the Hollywood Bowl, the appearance of folk-rocker Carlos Varela, called the Bob Dylan of Cuba, at the Playboy Jazz Festival, and the induction of Cuban-born Grammy Award-winning pop music superstar Gloria Estefan into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame.

No one seems to know why so many things Cuban have coincidentally

and unexpectedly popped up on the entertainment menu.

"It would be nice to say that it was somehow coordinated," says Rebecca Yeldham, director of the Los Angeles Film Festival, which is showing a number of Cuban films during the festival, which runs from June 16 to 26. "But it is fascinating that there is this very synergistic celebration across different mediums."

Indeed, some publicists have noticed many of the events have recently been branded under the heading " S Cuba! SoCal."

But even Judith Keller, who curated the Getty exhibit, was unaware until recently that there were other Cuban-related events going on. She had been planning the museum's show for quite some time, and part of it involved a State Department-sanctioned trip to Cuba last year, which took some five months for approval.

What she saw was a Havana that doesn't look much different than what is seen in the photos shot by Evans (1903?1975), which were taken as an assignment for a book called "The Crime of Cuba," an indictment of the corrupt regime of the nation's president Gerardo Machado, and the exploitation of the country by the U.S.

The photos Evans took, however, turned out to be more of an exploration, a documentation of old Havana, its decaying colonial architecture, and the people.

"Evans primarily photographed an area of the city called old Havana, which is now being heavily restored," explains Keller. "He had spent a year in Paris and wanted to become a writer. So for him having this old city to photograph (gave him) the freedom to shoot what he wanted to."

There were two influences on Evans at the time. One was French photographer Eug ne Atget, who was becoming known at the time for his documentation of old Paris. "I think an awful lot of what Evans did there was - especially the photographs of the storefronts and the carriages and older architecture - an imitation of Atget," says Keller.

While in Havana, Evans met Ernest Hemingway, whom he admired for his stripped-down writing style and political views and was interested in putting that aesthetic in his pictures. Interestingly, one of the photos in the exhibit shows a man standing in a doorway beside a film poster for "A Farewell to Arms." In one of those strange coincidences, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences currently has an exhibition called "Cuban Film Posters: From Havana to the World." The 125 hand-silkscreened posters, though, are all created post-1959, after the revolution; so "Adios a las Armas" - as it is known in Spanish - is not one of them.

Evans' photographs include portraits of poor workers, men in the ubiquitous Panama hats and a few stylish women, who may be streetwalkers. It's easy to see a connection to another part of the show that features three photographers who have chronicled Cuba since 1991, when the Soviet Union fell apart and the island nation lost its economic support. Known as the "Special Period" (per odo especial), the time was especially hard on the poor nation.

Some of Russian photographer Alexey Titarenko's black-and-white shots look like they could be part of the Evans group, so little seems to have changed.

"He grew up in Leningrad and to him it was just another Cold War city that is crumbling and that was devastated by communist rule," notes Keller about Titarenko's work.

Virginia Beahan's pictures explore the relationship of the country's landscape and its history, including the many reminders of the revolution that have been erected, from billboards to statues. A photo by Alex Harris, showing a young "Woman Posing in Her Living Room, with Camilo Cienfuegos on the TV" captures many of the aspects of modern Cuban life. A former student of Evans, Harris took portraits of women whose lives have been affected by the tourist-fueled sex trade and have become part-time prostitutes.

Contrast that with a shot in the third part of the exhibition of photos taken during and directly after the country's 1959 socialist revolution to overthrow dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Alberto Korda's "Plaza de la Revoluci n, Havana, May 1963" shows proud armed women marching on parade, a far cry from Harris' image.

The revolution photos are from the private collection of Christian Skrein, and include an iconic shot of Che Guevara by Korda. As Keller notes, Castro understood the propaganda advantage to documenting the revolution and hired a number of photographers to do so. Many of the shots are restagings of key events, while others show communist ideals, like those women soldiers.

Harris liked to aim his camera at landscapes taken through the windshields of refurbished 1950s American cars. Since the U.S. embargo of 1962, Cubans have been unable to get American autos but have kept the ones they have running.

One of the films in the Los Angeles Film Festival, "Habana Eva," has a scene that spotlights one such car - that of a bride riding in an old convertible against the Havana skyline. The festival's artistic director, David Ansen, calls the film a romantic comedy that shows you the city and "what goes on in the foreground story and what goes around in the background story."

Ansen, who was a longtime film critic at Newsweek, and Yeldham, a producer whose credits include "The Motorcycle Diaries" about the young Che, took their own State Department-sanctioned trip to Cuba last December. They were there, along with others from the American movie industry, for the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana. The group included director Kathryn Bigelow and the writer Mark Boal, who introduced their Oscar-winning film "The Hurt Locker."

"We met with a lot of Cuban filmmakers while we were there," says Yeldham, "and out of that experience came the desire to continue furthering that cultural exchange. And in turn to bring Cuban films and filmmakers to the festival."

Calling it a "fascinating and complicated place," Ansen says there are two types of filmmaking going on in Cuba - movies that go through the official government channels and a growing independent film movement. Those are largely being financed by overseas money - "everything but American money," Ansen notes. He adds, "They have an amazing film school there, which brings people in from all over Latin America and Europe as well."

Though the flight from Miami was less than an hour, landing in Havana was something of a culture shock for Yeldham.

"It's so removed from American commercialism and consumerism, capitalism," says the producer. "I think for many of us - as well traveled as we are - we've never been anywhere quite like it, and it's such a creative place, born out of this situation dominated by meager resources."

Ansen says he was surprised by the variety of movies he saw, especially considering the government's hold on the people. One film at the festival is "Ticket to Paradise," set in the "Special Period" of the 1990s. "This movie shows a kind of desperation that people were driven to during that period," he says.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the showing of "Operation Peter Pan: Flying Back to Cuba." It's a documentary about some 14,000 Cuban children who were sent by their parents to the U.S. to "save" them from the revolution in the early 1960s. The film follows several "Peter Pans" who return to their homeland for the first time.

"The reason we're particularly excited about it is that since we announced this film," says Yeldham, "David and I have heard an outpouring of inquiries from `Peter Pans' - people who have come forth and declared themselves to either be the children who were sent to the U.S. or children of those children. And we are expecting quite a turnout at the festival."

A recent informal poll by a travel agency group says that if restrictions were lifted, most Americans would consider visiting Cuba.

It's all part of the waiting game that is the island nation, but with all that is happening around L.A., we can get a taste of it without getting on an airplane. Mojito anyone?

Ian Keaggy, Nash Overstreet, Ryan Keith Follese and Jamie Follese (clockwise from left) make up the the Nashville band Hot Chelle Rae.

A common Chord:Glee cast member Chord Overstreet (who plays Sam Evans) is Nash's younger brother, and can be seen making out with a girl on a photocopier in the Tonight Tonight video. "He brought a lot of comedy to the video," Nash says. "He was like, 'I'm not just going to play the role you guys had in mind; I'm going to step it up and be funny.'"

The family business: Chord isn't Hot Chelle Rae's only family connection to the entertainment industry. Overstreet's father, Paul Overstreet, has written hits for Randy Travis, The Judds, Kenny Chesney and Blake Shelton. Keith Follese ? father of lead singer Ryan "RK" Follese, 24, and drummer Jamie Follese, 19 ?- also has penned several country hits, Faith Hill's The Way You Love Me and Lady Antebellum's Lookin' for a Good Time among them. Bassist Ian Keaggy, 23, is the son of Christian singer/guitarist Phil Keaggy. Going into the family industry was more or less inevitable. "When your dad lets you have some of your college tuition to record demos, you kind of know where you're going," Ryan Follese says.

Life lessons: Growing up around musicians helped the bandmates learn key lessons early. Follese recalls being in the room when his father wrote Tim McGraw's Something Like That. "I wouldn't have known what a hit was if it was right next to me," says Follese, who was in his early teens at the time, "but I was like, 'That's a really good song.'" Overstreet remembers his father talking about trying to bail on the songwriting session that ended up producing Travis' Grammy Award-winning hit Forever and Ever, Amen. The moral he took away from the tale: "I don't care how tired I am, I don't care how many songs I've written that day, I'm going to go to work. And when I pass out, that's it."

The T-Swizzle connection: The band, which formed in 2005, first got on a national stage as collaborators with Taylor Swift and T-Pain on Thug Story, the parody of Swift's hit Love Story that aired on the 2009 CMT Music Awards show. "It was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had," Follese says. The group released its first album, Lovesick Electric, later that year.

The importance of being Googled: An early version of the band called itself Miracle Drug, after a U2 song. The musicians soon realized the name could relegate the group to a career of obscurity. "Good luck getting Googled over U2," Overstreet says. Adds Follese, "It's weird to think about making a band name that's Google-friendly, but it's really kind of necessary now." The current name alludes to an early online stalker/fan.

Long hot summer: Hot Chelle Rae sets out on the Friday is Forever tour July 10 at Six Flags in St. Louis. They'll share the bill with We the Kings, the Summer Set, the Downtown Fiction and Action Item. "We've played so many shows with these guys, we're excited to be on an official tour," Follese says. "It's going to be a summer party, honestly."

'Two and a Half Men' Triggers Bizarre Bomb Scare

Charlie Sheen isn't the only one stressing out over 'Two and a Half Men.'

A viewer in New York City named Freddy Caldwell was arrested on Friday, after allegedly making bomb threats to a TV station for airing too many reruns of the troubled sitcom.

Much of the caller's motive remains unknown. Did he dislike seeing the show in general, or just headline-making Sheen? Were substances, such as alcohol (or tiger blood?), behind the threats? Will Chuck Lorre remark on the bomb scare in his vanity card, once the revamped series returns with Ashton Kutcher?

What cops do know, according to the Hollywood Reporter, is that on two separate occasions this month, May 11 and May 23, Caldwell phoned WPIX-11 and allegedly threatened to blow up the station's headquarters if any more syndicated 'Two and a Half Men' reruns aired.

Police (winning!) traced the calls to the man's home in the Bronx, and Caldwell was charged with "falsely reporting an incident and aggravated harassment."

CBS abruptly shut down production of the series in February, as Sheen unleashed an epic series of rants insulting the show and Lorre (its creator), while bragging about his hard-partying lifestyle. In March, the CBS fired Sheen; the self-proclaimed 'warlock' soon launched a multi-city 'Torpedo of Truth' tour, consistently receiving scathing reviews, as well as catcalls from curious-but-rowdy crowds. Sheen recently had to put his Beverly Hills estate on the market.

Meanwhile, the network has decided to replace Sheen, announcing this month that it will begin airing a new season of 'Two and a Half Men' in the fall, with Kutcher stepping in as Jon Cryer's co-star.

Will Jennifer Lopez Return to American Idol?

Randy Jackson says all three American Idol judges will return for season 11.

We hope he's right, but there's a problem with that prediction: Jennifer Lopez only signed a one-year deal with Fox, and she hasn't committed yet to a new one.

"It's too early to tell," if I'll return, Lopez said soon after this week's finale.

Do we think she'll be back? Absolutely. American Idol resurrected J. Lo's music career, as her single "On the Floor" shot to the top of the charts.

An NFL lockout couldn't stop Tony Romo from scoring the ultimate touchdown this weekend ? the Dallas Cowboys quarterback married Candice Crawford on Saturday evening at Arlington Hall in Dallas, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

"It was perfect! From the ceremony in beautiful white, to a vibrant after-party and great music selected by Tony himself," says the source, noting the packed dance floor.

Cowboy players past and present, such as Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Dez Bryant and Miles Austi, as well as team owner Jerry Jones, were seen helping the couple celebrate their nuptials in the historic building tucked in the city's Oak Lawn neighborhood, reports Dallas's KDAF-TV.

Crawford, a pageant queen and KDAF-TV anchor (as well as the younger sister of Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford), received an 8-carat yellow diamond engagement ring, which features one carat of round diamonds surrounding the center stone. Her bridesmaids wore Badgley Mischka dresses.

Guests partied into the night at a reception organized by wedding planner Todd Fiscus, whose credits include New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning's wedding. Short ribs and pizza were promised on the new couple's reception menu.

"We did lots of man food," Fiscus told CBS about the menu for the big day. "I have a lot of football players to feed."

Fiscus was also responsible for the custom gift bag for the out-of town guests.

Monogrammed with the wedding couple's initials, the bag contains a Neiman Marcus gift card, assorted treats from Great One Cookies, a Mix of the Month CD by DJ Lucy Wrubel, a miniature bottle of Moet champagne, a box of Dude Sweet Chocolates, gourmet popcorn, chips and salsa, "Killer Pecans" from Bandera Foods, Voss bottled water, and an assortment of Kiehl's beauty and body products.

The couple became engaged in December, when Romo, 31, proposed to Crawford on her 24th birthday. They have been dating since summer 2009, shortly after Romo split from Jessica Simpson.

Dallas/Ft. Worth station WFAA also reported the nuptials.

Eminem, Usher, Cee Lo Green Share Their Reactions to Gil Scott-Heron's Death

Cee Lo Green heard the news and proclaimed, "Rest in peace to the GOD" while comic Sarah Silverman remembered a man who "mirrored ugliness with beauty, audacity & valor."

Gil Scott-Heron, 62, the pioneering author and musician known by many as "the godfather of rap" passed away Friday, according to the New York Times.

As a young man, the Chicago native was one of the first the recording artists signed by legendary producer Clive Davis when the Arista label was being launched. But the onetime prodigy's life grew tragic, plagued by crack addiction. He allegedly fell ill following a recent trip abroad, entering a Manhattan hospital where he died.

The artist's death moved famous fans of his protest-poetry work -- including 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,' the 1970 track sampled by both Kanye West and Tupac Shakur -- to tweet their respects and praise his contribution to the music industry.

Eminem posted the message, "RIP Gil Scott-Heron. He influenced all of hip-hop."

Usher told Twitter followers, "I just learned of the loss of a very important poet...R.I.P. Gil Scott Heron. 'The revolution will be live!!'"

Snoop Dogg shared the tweet, "RIP to 1 of tha greats, gil scott heron."

Chuck D of Public Enemy wrote, "RIP GSH..And we do what we do and how we do because of you. And to those that don't know, tip your hat with a hand over your heart & recognize"

Lupe Fiasco heard the news and said, "Awww man...sad day...RIP Gil-Scot Heron...May God have mercy on your soul!"

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore tweeted, "R.I.P. Gil Scott-Heron. He gave us 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' & 'We Almost Lost Detroit.' And, in essence, he gave us hip-hop."

TV writer and 'Community' star Donald Glover posted the simple tribute, "You will be missed Mr. Gil Scott-Heron."
