The 'Beverly Hills 90210' actor's wife Erin gave birth to a baby girl called Mia Loren Ziering yesterday (25.04.11).
Born in Los Angeles weighing 7lbs 6oz, Mia - who according to People.com was given a name beginning with 'M' to honour Ian's late mother Micki - is also Erin's first child.
As I sit holding Mia, Erin sleeps the most beautiful sleep. My thoughts race with visions of a brighter future, only made possible by what happens today... or, last night! God bless us all.
The 47-year-old star - who married the brunette beauty last May - broke the happy news on his Facebook page and described the joy he felt as he held his newborn daughter.
He wrote: "Well, it's official, I'm a dad!
"As I sit holding Mia, Erin sleeps the most beautiful sleep. My thoughts race with visions of a brighter future, only made possible by what happens today... or, last night! God bless us all."
When the couple announced they were expecting in October, Ian said they were "beyond excited" about becoming parents for the first time.
He said: "Erin and I are very excited to be parents. It's something we both have always wanted. Erin is four and a half months along, and we both are beyond excited."
